VAMA and GONVVAMA attended the forum, VAMA CMO Jurgen Cobbaut and GONVVAMA CTO Yannick Yin jointly gave a speech on "New Steel Grades for Lighter and Safer Car Body Structures”, presented VAMA and GONVVAMA advanced automotive steel products and solutions regarding automotive lightweighting.

ArcelorMittal opens new facility for laser welding high-strength-steel blanks

ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks (Detroit, MI), a subsidiary of steel and mining company ArcelorMittal (headquartered in Luxembourg), selected the city of Detroit as the company's first wholly owned manufacturing operation in the state because of its proximity to leading automakers, access to talent, and support from local and state governments. The $83 million operation is located at 8650 Mount Elliot St. in Detroit's I-94 Industrial Park.

Volvo’s new XC40 small SUV has been named the 2018 European Car of the Year ahead at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle makes significant use of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) including hot-formed boron grades, the strongest automotive steel available today.
