From January 4 to 6, 2025, the Sichuan Azalea Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Meigu County Committee of Caring for the Next Generation and GONVVAMA Changshu Plant, held a donation ceremony at Meigu National Junior High School, Meigu Niuniuba Junior High School, and Daqiao Junior High School. The event was attended by the Meigu County Committee of Caring for the Next Generation, CEO of GONVVAMA Billy Ma and his daughter, COO of GONVVAMA David Suarez and his wife, Changshu Plant Manager Ken Sun, and staff from the Sichuan Somma Charity Foundation.
On the afternoon of the arrival day, the team visited the office of the Sichuan Azalea Charity Foundation in Xichang City to learn about its various charitable initiatives. After the meeting, they drove to Meigu County. At Meigu National Junior High School, we visited two Azalea classes and distributed warm supplies. Billy Ma and Ken Sun carefully introduced GONVVAMA's company and product information to the students. When the children learned that the uncles and aunts standing before them were engaged in high-tech automotive product deep processing, expressions of endless longing appeared on their faces, reflecting curiosity about the unknown and admiration for advanced technology. Watching these eager children, Billy Ma sincerely welcomed them to join the company in the future and contribute to the development of the automotive industry. In addition, Billy Ma introduced Taiwan to the students, and David and his wife introduced the history and customs of Europe.
Most of the students in Azalea Class were meeting foreign friends for the first time. When David and his wife, Claudia, appeared before them, the students' eyes were filled with joy and curiosity. David and Claudia patiently taught the students how to say basic greetings like "hello" and "thank you" in Spanish and Italian. For every pronunciation, they tirelessly demonstrated, and the students earnestly learned, repeating it over and over. The students also enthusiastically taught their guests the words for 'thank you' and 'good fortune' in Yi language. The classroom was filled with the cheerful sounds of different languages blending together, and at that moment, cultural differences melted away, leaving only friendship and warmth that transcended borders. Though the world is vast, love and goodwill can bring people closer together.
The children of Azalea sang the Yi ethnic songs "Golden Mouth Harp" and "Toast Song" for us. As the melodious tunes began, the children's pure voices echoed in the classroom, conveying the most sincere friendship. In the song, there was a warm welcome for distant guests, as well as praise for the beautiful life. Led by their teachers, we also visited the students' dormitories. Looking at the spotless floors and the neatly folded blankets, Billy Ma was struck by how well-behaved the children of Liangshan were. Azalea students are not only hardworking in their studies, but these small details of daily life also demonstrate their good habits and show us their self-discipline and effort.
On the second day of our arrival in Meigu, with the expectation of getting to know the students more deeply, we embarked on a journey to visit their homes. We traveled along the winding paths, visiting each household one by one. During our conversations, we expressed our sincere concern for the children's lives and studies and made donations to each family. The students warmly welcomed us and enthusiastically invited us to taste authentic Yi ethnic dishes.
At a student Jikeer's home, our attention was drawn to a wall covered in certificates of achievement. The paper of some certificates had yellowed over time, but each one was carefully affixed to the wall, serving as a testament to the classmates' hard work. We could genuinely feel that despite facing difficulties, the students maintained a positive and upward attitude. These children embody endless potential and hope; as long as they are given support and encouragement, they will surely shine with their own brilliance in the future.
At Niuniuba Junior High School, Ken Sun encourages the students in the Azalea class with his life experiences. He is like a kind elder brother to the students, who, just like them, once came from a rural background and, through sheer determination, managed to stand firm in the bustling city and carve out a place for himself. Because of this, Ken Sun deeply empathizes with the students' current situation, feeling a strong sense of shared emotion. He tells them, "There may be confusion ahead, but it is only temporary. As long as you hold on to your dreams and never give up, you will surely have a bright future.
On January 6th, we held a donation ceremony at Daqiao Junior High School, including 1,400 scarves, 1,400 hats, and 2,200 pairs of warm socks to help the children combat the cold winter; along with 4,000 pencils, 5,000 erasers, 5,600 notebooks, and over 400 books donated by staff members, with a total value of nearly 60,000 yuan, supporting the children’s academic progress.
Gong Enfu, the Executive Deputy Director of the Caring Committee of Meigu County, delivered a heartfelt message to the students, urging them to cherish the support from all sectors of society and transform their gratitude into motivation for learning, thereby changing their destinies through knowledge. CEO Billy Ma, COO David Suarez, and Plant Manager Ken Sun expressed their concern and expectations for the children's growth, promising to continue focusing on and supporting education in the mountainous areas.
We believe that, under the care of the Party and government, as well as with the help of kind-hearted individuals and enterprises from all walks of life, the children of Azalea will surely grow up strong and write their own magnificent chapters in life.
