On Dec 7th, VAMA, GONVVAMA and AP&T jointly hold the hot stamping seminar in Chongqing, bringing the advanced hot stamping steel solutions to customers in Southwest clusters. Major OEMs such as Chang’an Ford, Chang’an Suzuki, Zotye, Chang’an,BAIC yinxiang, Weichai, Dongfeng Xiaokang, etc, and Tier 1 supplier such as Benteler, Cosma starq, Zhixin,BND,Lianwei,Baowei etc attended the seminar.

Senior Researcher of ArcelorMittal Global R&D Jean-Noel Gacel, GONVVAMA CTO Yannick Yin, VAMA Head of CTS Michael Yang respectively introduced ArcelorMittal S-in motion® light-weighting solution, VAMA & GONVVAMA local supply and GONVVAMA downstream solution, ArcelorMittal new generation hot stamping steels.

VAMA CMO & CTO Jurgen Cobbaut presented the integrated supply chain of VAMA & GONVVAMA. He emphasized the leadership of VAMA in both products and technologies. As a full catalog automotive steel supplier and advanced light weighting solution provider, VAMA looks forwards to collaborating with its customers in achieving most efficient design in terms of weight, car safety and cost.

Jean-Noel, Senior Researcher of ArcelorMittal Global R&D, introduced S-in motion® PHEV, S-in motion® BEV, S-in motion®Midsize SUV and Sedan solutions. With ample calculation and crash simulation results, he demonstrated that ArcelorMittal’s full range of advanced high strength steels can offer effective light-weighting solutions for electric vehicle, hybrid vehicle and conventional vehicle, so as to help car makers to meet the higher and higher crash standards. And the latest generation hot-stamping steels, Usibor®2000 and Ductibor®1000,combined with Laser Welded Blanks technology, allows to bring even further crash and safety performances, together with mass savings.

Yannick Yin, GONVVAMA CTO, brought the advanced hot stamping steel Laser Welded Blanks (LWB) solution of GONVVAMA to audiences. He introduced that LWB are two or more sheets welded together by laser. These sheets can have different thickness, different alloy and different coating. With LWB, automotive engineers can design a part which meet the property need of different position, also reduce the weight of car, optimize material utilization and cost, improve safety performance. He also introduced the patent technology of ArcelorMittal – partial coating ablation , and hot stamped LWB applications , such as: LWB front side member and B pillar for midsize vehicle and the award winning innovative door ring solution.

GONVVAMA CTO Yannick Yin
Michael Yang, VAMA head of CTS, introduced the latest products Usibor® 2000 & Ductibor®1000 from ArcelorMittal, which have been industrialized in Europe. He gave a vivid interpretation to this new development “future is now”. Usibor® 2000 & Ductibor®1000 solution can reduce the weight of car by 10%-20% comparing with the current hot stamping steel solution. VAMA is now making intensive effort in developmentand plan to project the new product into Chinese market next year.
