Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, November 1, 2017 – GONVVAMA is officially put into operation, which means a world class deep processing base of automotive steels has been established, thus covering the major automotive clusters in China and providing customers with global advanced integrated technological solutions.

 

On November 1, 2017, GONVVAMA is officially put into operation in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, China. GONVVAMA is an equal-share partition joint venture between Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Steel Co., Ltd. (VAMA) and Gonvarri Steel Services (Gonvarri).

 

Headquartered in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, GONVVAMA currently has established 4 Advanced Technologies and Solutions Centers (ATS) in four cities in China, including Changshu, Shenyang, Chongqing and Loudi, thus covering the major automotive clusters in China and helping automotive manufacturers meet the challenges of body weight saving, improved safety performance and environmental protection. As the extended supporter of VAMA’s downstream industry chain, GONVVAMA focuses on the integrated forming of hot formed steel, advanced high-strength steel, ultrahigh-strength steel and exposed steel plates, and processing service of laser welded parts (LWB) with a view to providing quality products and integrated technical service solutions to automotive manufacturers.

Thanks to ArcelorMittal’s technical support, GONVVAMA has released a couple of revolutionary new concepts, including hot stamped LWB used for safety cage body, and more environment-friendly, lighter and safer steel body solutions, which have developed prosperously in global major markets. These proved solutions not only improve passengers’ safety, but also plays an important role in weight saving of body in white and reduction of total assembly cost. In addition, ArcelorMittal Global R&D and Gonvvama have been always developing specific S-in motion® solutions for EV in response to China regulations. Such award-winning solutions, which integrate the most advanced AHSS and hot stamped steel grades, help customers achieve excellent crash safety performance with considerable weight saving and nearly no penalty in cost. Design centers of China’s OEMs are working in a more efficient manner, thus achieving safer and lighter design goals more rapidly. Thanks to ArcelorMittal’s support in R&D, GONVVAMA, through cooperating with these design centers, provides hot forming solutions and designs regarding body in white application, layout and forming research of laser welding parts, more optimized integrated supply chain services, thus helping customers improve production efficiency and product performance.
